The Advanced Technologies Service utilizes various software tools in its operations. When both commercial and open-source tools exist, preference is given to the latter. Any missing features are developed in-house. For instance, sensor layout design is performed using KLayout, for which a mechanism has been developed to expose specialized, technology-dependent parametric generators. The animation demonstrates the generation of a pixel sensor array and a large-area linear drift detector.
