Il giorno 3 Aprile 2009 alle ore 10:00 presso la sala riunioni dei laboratori INFN in Area di Ricerca il Dr. Subir Sarkar (INFN e SNS Pisa) terrà un seminario dal titolo:

"Bridging local and grid-wide monitoring on computing farms".

 

Abstract:

Successful operation of a computing farm relies on good monitoring tools, both for administrator and users.

The task is particularly challenging when users are remote as it now common with grid-accessible resources.

This seminar will indicate how the various issues have been succesfully tackled in a specific real case application, dealing with the different needs from users and administrators and with security and privacy concerns.

The tool that will be described is currently used in production at INFN-Pisa (an LSF based Tier2 for CMS), at FNAL (Condor based T1 for CMS), and various Universities around the world.

Extensions to other use cases of distributed processing will also be addressed.
